Lamar Alexander Papers
This collection contains the papers of former Governor of Tennessee, Secretary of Education, and U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander. Currently, only the material predating Alexander's tenure as Senator (pre-2002) is processed for research use. Processing of the Senatorial Papers is expected to be completed in Fall 2023. Please contact Special Collections with access inquiries related to Senate materials.

The bulk of the materials come from the 1920's through the 1960's.

Grand Ole Opry Collection
This collection, donated in 1967 by Jesse Wills, is composed of a wide variety of items of historical and musical interest, including songbooks, correspondence, photographs, and other unique items. As president of National Life and Accident Insurance Company, the parent company of WSM, Inc. and the Grand Ole Opry, Wills had access to a wide variety of material associated with country music in general and the Grand Ole Opry in particular.
Dewey W. Grantham Papers
This collection contains the papers of Dewey Grantham, longtime professor of history at Vanderbilt from 1952-1991. Grantham was a preeminent scholar of the twentieth century South. This collection is mostly processed with a small (7 linear feet) unprocessed addition.
Alfred T. Hamilton Papers
This collection contains copies of letters written by Alfred T. Hamilton to his father, 1858 and 1859. He was a doctor in Franklin County, and his letters discuss the medical conditions of this patients as well as living conditions in the South. Copies of 2 letters from James B. Childs to Mrs. Noble in 1961 regarding the location of the town.
