Biographical / Historical
Michael Demiashkevich was born in Mohilev, Russia, on November 8, 1891. He studied at the Imperial Historico-Philological and Imperial Archaeological institutes in St. Petersburg and graduated in 1914. He then worked for the Ministry of Education. In 1923, he moved to the United States, and he received his Ph.D. in education from Columbia University in 1926. He then conducted research in Europe before joining the faculty in the Department of Education at George Peabody College for Teachers in 1929. He died in Rockport, Maine, on August 26, 1938.
