Biographical / Historical
The Southern Education Reporting Service (1954-1972) was a Nashville-based organization that reported on school desegregation efforts in their monthly newspaper, Southern School News. SERS was an objective, fact-finding agency established by southern newspaper editors and educators with the aim of providing accurate and unbiased information to school administrators, publics officials, and interested citizens on developments in education arising from the Supreme Court’s decision of outlawing segregation in public schools.
