Biographical / Historical
Samuel Anderson Weakley graduated from the Vanderbilt School of Engineering in 1911. He was on the basketball team from 1908-1910, was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, and was part of the Tau Beta Pi honor society. After graduation, Weakley worked with the Nashville office of the U.S. Corps of Engineers, where he worked on improvements, such as dams and locks, on the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers. During his service in World War I, Weakley designed warehouses, facilities, and port terminals. He died on February 19, 1973, in Nashville, Tennessee.
