Annunciation, The work presents a scene from the Gospel Book of Luke chapter 1 verses 26 through 38. The archangel Gabriel visits the Virgin Mary to tell her of her immaculate conception of the Christ child. This scene is traditionally painted with lilies, the symbol of Mary‚Äôs purity; here, they are between the winged angel Gabriel on the left, and the Virgin Mary on the right. Mary wears a crown to allude to her future role as the queen of heaven. The interior is a contemporary fifteenth-century design, with geometric floors and arched doorways upheld by columns with gilded capitals. Through the interior doorway in the distance there is a landscape with a sun shining high in the sky; in this bright spot there is a faint outline of the figure of a man, either God the Father or Christ.
