Abstract

The Hugh Davis Graham is a small collection of two Hollinger boxes (.83 linear feet) the biggest part of which are his published articles. Also in the collection are notes, programs from conferences, newspaper clippings, research, and emails. Most of the content in the Hugh Davis Graham Collection relates to his interests in Civil Rights and Policy History, more specifically the Civil Rights Act and Affirmative Action.

Scope and Content Note

This collection is composed of one Hollinger box with thirteen folders contained within. The collection is primarily composed of research papers from Griffin’s peers in other universities, as well as research cards to said papers. Additionally, there is research on Peabody College by Griffin himself. Finally, correspondence to Griffin can also be found.

Scope and Contents The 14 cubic feet collection includes Paul Hardacre’s research materials, teaching materials, correspondence, maps, student papers and dissertations, grade books, and assorted news publications related to the Vanderbilt history department and historical associations. The materials in the collection reflect his specialization in British history. The collection also contains Paul Hardacre’s dissertation The Royalists during the Puritan Revolution, 1642-1660....

This small collection of two Hollinger boxes (.84 linear feet) contains correspondence and personal and biographical materials relating to Andrew Jacob Haun and Mattie Francis Oliver Haun, aunt and uncle of the southern writer Mildred E. Haun, whose papers are also held by Special Collections in the Vanderbilt University Library

Scope and Content Note

This small collection (.42 linear feet) contains letters, programs, and newspaper clippings collected by Sara Holroyd, a 1946 graduate of George Peabody College for Teachers. (Peabody merged Vanderbilt University in 1979.). Ms. Holroyd was a student leader and a musician while at Peabody, and many of the programs feature her as a student musician. This collection also chronicles the end of WWII and activities at Peabody College during that time.

Scope and Content Note The papers are contained in five Hollinger boxes and measures 1.66 linear feet. They are comprised of personal correspondence, newspaper clippings and articles about Doris Hoover, a CD of hundreds of photos of her creative works, as well as copies of the books she wrote. Scope and Content Note The Papers of James Hampton Kirkland, the second chancellor of Vanderbilt University, are composed of eighteen cubic feet of material that represent Kirkland’s life, particularly his tenure at Vanderbilt (Professor of Latin, 1886 - 1893, Chancellor, 1893 - 1937, Chancellor Emeritus 1937 - 1939). Scope and Content Note

This collection is 3.34 linear feet, 8 Hollinger boxes which consist of correspondence, articles and book reviews by Avery Leiserson as well as materials relating to his academic career at the University of Chicago (1946 -1952) and at Vanderbilt University (1952 -1978). Other series in this collection include reprints, book reviews, magazine and newspaper articles written by others. The materials cover the years 1936 until his death in 2004.

Abstract

The Louise LeQuire Papers document her career as an artist, curator, writer and teacher. It contains much of LeQuire’s own work, including documents and correspondence related to her service with the Metro Nashville Arts Commission and the Visual Arts Alliance of Nashville, as well her extensive research on notable artists of the time, such as William Edmonson, Red Grooms, and Frederic Remington.

Scope and Content Note The Dorothy Bethurum Loomis papers range from material collected at the beginning of the 20th century to those collected in the late 1980s. The first box of the collection consists of Loomis's biographical and academic materials such as personal correspondences, newspaper clippings, photographs, and handwritten notes found in her papers.
