Cherrie E. Barrow Diary

This collection contains a 5-Year diary from a young woman living in Old Hickory, Tennessee at the outset of WWII (1939-1943). The author is a high school student at the beginning of the diary and talks about her daily life with some breaks in between entries.

Scope and Content Note:

This .21 linear foot collection consists of the booklet King George sent to blind Allied soldiers in French Braille. An English translation of King George’s message is included. The collection also contains a letter written by the organization’s founder George A. Kessler which is written in French. In addition, a letter to Anna Coile Durham from the Permanent Blind Relief War Fund is included which was sent to her with this copy of King George’s message.

This Collection is .21 linear feet and includes Allen Eskind’s WWII Journal in fifteen chapters and his official correspondence during his time of service with the U.S. Navy. Sara Holroyd World War II and George Peabody College for Teachers Collection

This small collection (.42 linear feet ) contains letters, programs, and newspaper clippings collected by Sara Holroyd, a 1946 graduate of George Peabody College for Teachers. (Peabody merged Vanderbilt University in 1979.). Ms. Holroyd was a student leader and a musician while at Peabody, and many of the programs feature her as a student musician. This collection also chronicles the end of WWII and activities at Peabody College during that time.

This collection contains 54 photographs documenting the African-American soldiers of the 3067 Quartermaster Salvage Collecting Company in training in Wyoming during WWII, with almost all of the photographs annotated with humorous remarks and identifications of the images.
