Cherrie E. Barrow Diary
Scope and Contents
This collection contains a 5-Year diary from a young woman living in Old Hickory, Tennessee at the outset of WWII (1939-1943). The author is a high school student at the beginning of the diary and talks about her daily life with some breaks in between entries.
Context suggests that she is living in a Girl's Dormitory at her school. Throughout the diary, she mentions family and friends by name, notes daily events and happenings, and documents the major events in her life. There are many gaps in her entries, but overall, they offer a clear picture of her life and experiences in this period. Entries frequently record activities with family, clubs and organizations, and church. After graduation, she moves to Old Hickory Village and spends the early years of WWII in the Village.
