Oral history interview conducted in the History of Medicine Collections at Vanderbilt University, between Dr. Stephen Raffanti and Dr. David W. Haas.
Stephen Raffanti, MD, MPH is Emeritus Professor of Medicine and a Vanderbilt infectious disease specialist who served as the director of AIDS Services for the Nashville Metro Public Health Department beginning in 1990. Raffanti established the Infectious Diseases Clinic at Metro General Hospital, expanded HIV services in the Lentz Public Health Clinic, and established the Comprehensive Care Clinic in 1993, which moved to Vanderbilt in 2010.
David W. Haas, MD is Professor of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases and Co-Director, Tennessee Center for AIDS Research. He is a specialist in pharmacogenetic research and has led dozens of HIV clinical trials since 1994 and has led the AIDS Clinical Trial Group since its inception.
