Oral History Interviews

The Emeriti Capturing History initiative at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine is an ongoing series of oral history interviews between emeriti faculty, intended to capture the biographical narratives of the interviewees and their impact on Vanderbilt University, VUMC, and medical and scientific innovation. The project, intended to cross all disciplines, documents many of the scientific advances at Vanderbilt but is also intended to encourage future generations to pursue education in sciences that enhance health. Some of the interviewees may not yet have emeritus status but have nonetheless had significant careers at Vanderbilt University.

The interviews are usually conducted in the History of Medicine Collections reading room at Vanderbilt University. The first interviews were conducted and captured in late 2024 and are intended to be an ongoing project.
