This collection contains a poster created to protest the jailing of Painter David Alfaro Siqueiros, who was arrested in 1960 for openly criticizing the President of Mexico, Adolfo López Mateos. A nine-line poem by Pablo Neruda is printed below the image.

Biographical / Historical

David Alfaro Siqueiros was arrested in 1960 for leading a protest against the arrests of striking workers and teachers. He was sentenced to 8 years in prison but was pardoned in 1964.
