Scope and Contents
This collection contains approximately 175 items from the personal papers of Rabbi Moshe Ottolenghi of Thessaloniki, Greece. This includes correspondence, sermons, eulogies, songs, poems, printed broadsides, and handwritten notebooks (primarily in Ladino, Hebrew, and Italian) that primarily date to the late 19th century.
There are four binders containing numbered items. Each binder has "254" on them in addition to unique Hebrew characters. They are each numbered 11-14 in Hebrew.

The physical materials from this collection may be viewed only in the reading room of Vanderbilt’s Special Collections and University Archives. Biographical / Historical
Rabbi Moshe Yaakov Ottolenghi (given name Moise G. Ottolenghi) was born on September 10, 1840 in Livorno, Italy and died in December 12, 1900 in Thessaloniki, Greece. Ottolenghi was the Talmud Torah principal of Livorno until 1880, when he was brought to Thessaloniki to supervise and run the Talmud Torah there.
