Biographical / Historical
Charles W. Wilson, Jr., professor and geologist, was born on September 6, 1905, in Mayfield, Kentucky. He received his B.A. in 1927 and M.S. in 1928 from Vanderbilt University, where he was captain of the track team. In 1931, he received his Ph.D. from Princeton University, and he then returned to Vanderbilt University, where he taught until 1972. Wilson worked with the War Production Board during the latter part of World War II. Wilson died in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 21, 1985.
