Biographical Note
H. Jackson Forstman was born in Montgomery, Alabama in 1929. He earned his BA at Phillips University in 1949 and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from Phillips University in 1982. His Bachelor's of Divinity came from Union Theological Seminary in 1956, followed by a Doctor of Theology in 1959. He taught at a number of universities but joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 1964 and served as Dean of the Divinity School from 1978-1989. Forstman taught and researched in the areas of: theological education; the history of Christian thought; and ecumenical church relations in Germany.
