Scope and Contents
462 items include 83 holograph letters, 241 typed original letters, 18 copies (12 carbon, 6 photo + retyped), 70 telegrams, 10 mimeo., printed etc., 32 greeting cards, 3 postcards, and 3 misc. 347 items are addressed to GR, 74 to Kate Hollis Rice (KHR), and 41 to other people. 3 illegible signatures, 9 incomplete signatures, 4 false signatures, 7 items unsigned. 82 of the letters were sent to Grantland Rice c/o Ralph Edwards' "This Is Your Life" radio program when he was featured on the program in December 1948. The letters are from members of Grantland Rice's All-America football teams over a period of years. They have been removed the brown leather scrap-book initialed HGR (in which they were presented to him) and interfiled alphabetically with the rest of the incoming correspondence.
