Mountianous Landscape with Exotic Animals, This piece depicts a landscape with several exotic animals. In the foreground, men stand at the base of a tree pointing at a camel. At the right, a man kneels threatening an elephant. There are several monkeys present.
Scope and Contents
Vanderbilt photo identifier: SC.MSS.088.FLEM.1333; Public Notes: This work is very similar to that of Pieter Brueghel the Elder. The signature and date on this image may not be authentic. Breughel signed his name with an 'h' until 1559, which is odd since the 'h' isn't present in this work yet it is dated 1554. According to the notes on our photograph, this piece was sold at Sotheby's on 11-3-64.
