Virgin Enthroned with the Child Jesus, with Saints (Triptych), This image shows a polyptych with exquisite Gothic details. In the center panel, Mary is crowned queen of Heaven, enthroned, and the Christ Child stands on her lap and holds a pomegranate. To either side, two angels stand, holding the poles of the canopy which hangs above Mary and Christ. In the left panel stands Saint Jerome and Saint Gregory, with their attributes -- church model and papal tiara, respectively. In the right panel, stands Saint Ambrose and Saint Gregory, the other two doctors of the Church, with knotted scourge and book, respectively. The entire scene is ornately adorned, with the figures standing on a cusped plinth. Behind the walls of the foreground, there are fruit trees., 1446, Photographed in c.1910-c.1940

Vanderbilt photo identifier: SC.MSS.088.VENI.0157; Public Notes: This photograph was originally housed in a folder labeled, "Venezia 625" with a sticker that says, "Opera Firmata e Datata 1446."; This works "is one of the earliest surviving Venetian paintings to use a canvas support" (Savage, 2012). Signed by Antonio Vivarini and Giovanni Alemagna. "Painted for the Sala dell'Albergo of the Scuola di Santa Maria della Carita, where it hung immediately above the heads of the governors" (Savage, 2012).
