Equestrian Statue of King Louis XIV, Statue depicts King Louis XIV as Hercules in a triumphant pose astride a rearing horse. This statue is the terracotta draft for the later marble statue that was delivered to Versailles. King Louis XIV did not appreciate the styling of the statue and had his marble version altered to instead depict Marcus Curtius, yet this version remains unchanged. Of interest, the photograph image still showcases the statues elevated base and plaque, now missing., 1669-70
