Venus holds an arrow in the opposite direction of Cupid, toward one of the two small, nude children beside her on the left. They seem to be unaware of the situation. Though the figures seem to be in relaxed postures, the masks behind Cupid and at Venus's feet give indications of the many emotions within the scene, mostly that of jealousy and desire, shown by grimaces and pointed gazes.
