Portrait of Lucrezia Panciatichi, This image is a detail of the sitter's head from the following painting; it gives a more detailed view of her headband, necklace, and facial features. The half-length portraits shows the seated woman in a chair from the waist up. The chair and her body are pointed slightly to the viewer's left, but her face is shown at a frontal view. She looks directly at the viewer. Her hair is tied up in a bun and held by a jeweled headband, she also wears a pearl necklace with a gold piece at her throat, and a ring on her left ring finger, which is pointed out at the audience. Her dress is an expensive material, most likely silk due to the way it is rendered to fold and shimmer. She wears a gold collar and her sleeves are a darker brown color. Her left hand holds to the arm of the chair she sits in, while her right hand holds open a book. The dark background gives no indication of where she is seated, although there seems to be a light source coming from the viewer's left, which casts shadow on the far right side of her face. The work is meant to display the sitter and perhaps her wealth, but it looks almost as if she has looked up from reading the book in her hand, which proves the intelligence reaped from her good breeding, as well. The image is identical to record SC.MSS.088.FLOR.10714 although they come from different sources. This is a basic record created to enable public access to scanned images. Full research on this image is pending., c.1540
