Portrait of Guidobaldo II della Rovere, Duke of Urbino, The portrait's title notes the sitter, Guidobaldo II della Rovere, the Duke of Urbino. The artist renders him from the knees up, with his chest pointed slightly toward the sitter's right, but his face pointed fully toward the viewer. He wears a suit of armor and holds his military hat against his waist on his right side, and holds a large dog against his left side; the dog looks out at the viewer as well. The background is a dark color, allowing the sitter to be the central and sole focus. This is a basic record created to enable public access to scanned images.
