Christ at the Mount of Olives, This is a depiction of the first episode in the events known as the Passion of Christ. Jesus Christ is shown praying in the Garden of Gethsemane at the base of the Mount of Olives. The apostles are seen sleeping in the middleground and in the background, Judas and the Sanhedrin soldiers are entering the garden. Judas is holding a pouch in his hand, which contains the thirty pieces of silver paid by the Jewish Council for the betrayal of Jesus Christ., 1440/50

The Annunciation to the Virgin, This is painting depicts the angel Gabriel appearing to the Virgin Mary to inform her that she will bear the son of God. She is shown kneeling at her prie-dieu, with her hand holding her place in the book of hours. Presumably, the angel has interrupted Mary at a moment of devout piety. The angel holds a banner that reads a line from the Angelicus prayer, confirming Mary's holiness., 1490

The Crucifixion, This is a depiction of Christ upon the cross. His figure dominates the scene and his mourners fill the background. The Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene are accompanied by other female mourners to the left of the cross. St. Joseph stands to the right of the cross, raising his hand in blessing, and is flanked by several soldiers. There is a small dog in the foreground emphasizing the loyalty of Christ's followers. Also in the foreground is a human skull, which serves as a memento mori for the viewers. The background is typically Gothic, giving a wallpaper effect rather than one of realism., 1490

A fourth man kneels in the foreground and is binding branches together to form another whip. In the background, several men, presumably Pharisees, watch the scene.
