Adam and Eve, Painting depicts the Genesis story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. In this scene the original couple stand in the garden before a tree, they are both nude with the exception of tree leaves and branches strategically placed. In the tree above them hosts the tempter in the form of a half child, half forked tail snake. Eve reaches up to grab the apple while Adam rests his hand on her chest., circa 1550

Christ carrying the Cross, Painting depicts a crucifixion scene in which Simon of Cyrene is recruited to help a beaten Jesus carry his cross to his crucifixion. Here, Jesus wears a shirt, the crown of thorns, while looking directly at the viewer. Simon, here most likely depicted as the patron of the piece as an older bearded man in contemporary dress with a ring on his thumb., circa 1565

Christ Shown to the People (Ecce Homo), Painting depicts the Ecce Homo, "behold the man," scene of the crucifixion found in the New Testament. Here, Pontius Pilate is depicted in royal regalia propping up a beaten and wounded Christ. As common in this scene, the Roman Perfect Pilate drapes Jesus with a royal coat and his crown of thorns in mockery of a royal presentation, mocking his position as the King of the Jews. Pilate's left hand is raised, palm open while Jesus's hands are bound and his eyes are cast down, there is a younger man holding his binding., circa 1570–76

Requesting Materials
