Saint Jerome, This painting shows St. Jerome, presumably in penance and living as a recluse in the desert of Qinnasrin, after denying his past as a student in Rome. Jerome is kneeling before the crucifixion, with his head slightly turned and his hand on an open book. This painting is very similar to another canvas c. 1570 attributed to the repository of Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza by Artstor, but with subtle yet distinct differences., 1560
