Christ Shown to the People (Ecce Homo), Painting depicts the Ecce Homo, "behold the man," scene of the crucifixion found in the New Testament. Here, Pontius Pilate is depicted in royal regalia propping up a beaten and wounded Christ. As common in this scene, the Roman Perfect Pilate drapes Jesus with a royal coat and his crown of thorns in mockery of a royal presentation, mocking his position as the King of the Jews. Pilate's left hand is raised, palm open while Jesus's hands are bound and his eyes are cast down, there is a younger man holding his binding., circa 1570–76

Entombment of Christ, Depiction of the entombment of Christ. To the right, Jesus carried away by Nicodemus, Mary Magdalen, and a third man toward to the tomb. In the background, we see two men rolling away the stone to open the entrance of the tomb. To the left, we see the Virgin Mary surrounded by other women in mourning. A well-dressed woman follows close behind, presumably the patron. In the background, we see Golgotha on which three crosses stand erect. The largest stands empty with a ladder propped against it from Christ's deposition while two criminals hang from the other two crosses. In the distant background, we see rolling hills and tall architectural structures., c.1490

Factories at Clichy, "Vincent van Gogh has represented an expanse of factories bellowing smoke into the air in the gritty, industrial suburb of Clichy to the northwest of Paris. The scene is divided into three horizontal bands of fields, factories, and sky, while in the middle distance, two tiny figures (perhaps lovers) are visible in the field. Van Gogh’s ordered system of repetitive brushwork reflects his awareness of the recent 'pointillist' experiments of Seurat."

The Judgment of Paris, This piece depicts the myth of the Judgment of Paris. Paris, prince of Troy, is shown reclining against a tree. Hermes is presenting the three goddesses to Paris so that he may settle the divine debate of which goddess is truly the most beautiful. The three promise him different gifts in exchange for his favor. Aphrodite promises him the most beautiful woman in the world, which he accepts. This promised woman was Helen of Sparta and this promise caused the Trojan War., 1530
