This collection contains the papers of John Seigenthaler, journalist, writer, and longtime editor of The Tennessean. Seigenthaler was a prominent advocate for First Amendment rights and founded the First Amendment Center at Vanderbilt University. Seigenthaler also worked for Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and was a longtime friend of the Kennedy family.

This small collection 0.42 linear feet (1 Hollinger box) contains materials relating to South Africa and Apartheid and in particular to The Davis Cup tennis championship that was held in Nashville at Vanderbilt in the spring of 1978. These papers were collected by Paul L. Slentz while he was a graduate student at Vanderbilt during the years 1977-1979.

The Kelly Miller Smith Collection complements the Divinity School's Kelly Miller Smith Institute on the Black Church. This collection contains primary materials related to one of the most significant periods in black American history, ca. 1945-1984. Both contemporary and future scholars will view the collection as a valuable resource for inquiring into the thought and practice of Kelly Miller Smith, who was a widely esteemed black leader.

Comprised of 17 boxes and 1 flat box (8.6 lin. feet) and includes subjects on China, nuclear war and weapons, women’s rights, worker’s rights, socialism, and diaries and correspondence.

This collection contains the papers of Mary Hart "Molly" Todd, first president of the reconstituted League of Women Voters of Nashville. Todd was a strong advocate for voting rights, racial integration, and women's rights.

This collection contains photographs taken by Victoria Webb as the result of her involvement with the women’s liberation movement in Nashville during the 1970s and with the publication titled “Women’s Free Express”.
