Annie P. Ransom Collection
This collection contains correspondence, a diary, a daily devotional book, newspaper clippings, and hospital insurance papers belonging to Annie P. Ransom, daughter of John Crowe Ransom.
John Crowe Ransom And Ann Mitchner Correspondence Collection
This collection contains four typed and signed letters from John Crowe Ransom to Ann Mitchner, a friend and novice writer. The collection was purchased in early 2006. The four letters are dated January 17, February 2, March 15, and March 26, 1950, and include handwritten corrections and some tape repairs. This small correspondence collection records Ransom’s editorial and critical advice over the period of three months to aspiring writer Ann Mitchner.
John Crowe Ransom and Joseph Edgar Simmons Correspondence Collection
The letters in this small collection were written between September 17, 1959 and June 30, 1966 from John Crowe Ransom to Joseph Edgar Simmons, an aspiring poet and teacher. The letters consist primarily of advice, information, and concern Ransom gives for Simmons’ personal and professional growth as a poet, writer, and teacher. Altogether there are 17 letters. These letters were purchased in the fall of 2001.
John Crowe Ransom Robert Graves Correspondence Collection
This small collection (.21 linear feet) includes correspondence from John Crowe Ransom to Robert Graves during the years 1922 to 1926. Also included are poems, newspaper clippings, reviews of books about Ransom, and materials concerning Ransom’s 80th birthday celebration at Kenyon College.

John Crowe Ransom Tribute Collection
This small collection consists of 39 letters and telegrams paying tribute and homage to John Crowe Ransom from friends and colleagues who were not able to be present at the dinner honoring Ransom in Nashville on June 10, 1937. Among the luminaries offering their homage are T. S. Eliot, Wallace Stevens, Katherine Anne Porter, Louis Untermeyer, and Mark Van Doren. All of these are listed below in the file listing.
Laura Riding Collection
The Laura Riding Collection, 1923-1933, includes correspondence, poetry, and lists ofpotential subscribers to The Fugitive magazine. The collection is very minimal, containing 7 letters, 6 poems, and several pages oflists and notecards. The focus of this collection is Laura Riding’s connection to The Fugitive Magazine.
Allen Tate and Mark Van Doren Correspondence
This small collection (.21linear feet) includes personal correspondence between Allen Tate and Mark Van Doren and his wife Mrs. Dorothy Van Doren and other correspondence that concerns Mark Van Doren. There are also poems by Tate, Christmas cards, photographs, and various other items that relate to their friendship over many years. Other correspondence can be found in Mark Van Doren’s papers at Columbia University.
Allen Tate Papers Correspondence and Manuscripts Collection
This small collection (.21 linear feet) includes personal correspondence between Allen Tate and family members Benjamin E. Tate, Sr., Benjamin E. Tate, Jr. (Chuck), and Louise Fleishman Tate. There are also letters to J. Edgar Simmons and others, and incoming letters from Mark Van Doren, William S. Knickerbocker, and others making a total of 39 letters. The collection also includes the Chronology and Resume of Allen Tate, typescripts of two poems and several articles by Tate.
