This collection contains a muster roll of a company of black soldiers in the American Civil War. The company was present at General Robert E. Lee's surrender at Appomattox Court House.

Thomas Kelly Van Zandt III biographical file
File contains a transcription of a letter from Thomas Van Zandt to Mr. Adolph B. Hill, Jr. of the Hill Hentschel Company, St. Louis, outlining his service in the 300th General Hospial. File also contains a CD of photographic images of Capt. Van Zandt and the 300th General Hospital Unit.
Vanderbilt Aid Society Records
This small collection consists of materials relating to the founding of the Vanderbilt Aid Society, or the Ladies Aid Society for the Students of Vanderbilt University as it was called at the beginning. The collection contains correspondence, brief historical notes about the Society by various people connected with it, and the records that have been kept concerning the Treasurers’ reports and the loan fund reports, as well as the minutes from the meetings, 1894 - 1950.
Cornelius Vanderbilt (1794-1877) biographical file
File contains photocopies of photographs, and newspapers clipping from the January 9, 1877 Nashville Daily American issue describing the funeral services for Cornelius Vanderbilt. Also a photograph and article about his wife Frank Crawford Vanderbilt.
Cornelius Vanderbilt, IV Papers
The Cornelius Vanderbilt IV Papers, 1897-1974, include correspondence, manuscripts of writings, lecture materials, reviews of his books and film, personal papers, legal and business documents, photographs, newspaper clippings, and scrapbooks of his various writing and lecture projects. The forty-five boxes of the collection cover approximately 26.03 linear feet.
Ellen Tuck French Vanderbilt Scrapbook
This collection contains a scrapbook created by Ellen Tuck French in 1905. She was married to W.H. Vanderbilt at the time.
Vanderbilt Family Collection
This collection contains research materials on members of the Vanderbilt family and some original material. The bulk of the collection is newspaper clippings.
Vanderbilt Garden Club Records
This collection of 2.5 linear feet comprising six boxes contains all materials and records that have been generated and kept by the Vanderbilt Garden Club and includes history essays, minutes, photographs, audio tapes of meetings, programs, a scrapbook, and other items.

Vanderbilt Student Portrait Scrapbook
This collection contains a scrapbook of Vanderbilt student portraits from the late 19th century. There are 37 photographs, the majority on cabinet cards. While the majority of the photos are of college-age students, there are also a few photos of young children or older adults.

Finding aids describe the context, arrangement, and structure of archival materials, allowing users to identify and request materials relevant to their research.

Each finding aid contains a link to request materials from the collections. Collections can also be requested by emailing the repository directly through the library website. Each repository has its own location, hours, and contact information. Please consult the repository with questions about using the materials. Collections are non-circulating and must be used in the repository’s reading room. In many cases, the collections are stored off-site and require advance notice for retrieval.
