File includes copy of letter written by Roy Avery's brother, Oswald T. Avery, in which he describes his discovery of DNA. Letter is dated May 13, 1943. Also two unpublished manuscripts by Roy Avery: one on histoplasmosis and the other World War I memoirs. Also included in file are photos, newspaper clippings, Vanderbilt Faculty Biographical data sheet, obituary, one newspaper article about Mrs. Roy Avery, dated 1904.

This collection of two file folders contains a copy of the Lexington Progress from 1952 that includes reprints from old letters and writings nearly a century old that were discovered at the old Robert Bailey farm house. The excerpts are Antebellum and Civil War Era. Other newspaper clippings are also included regarding the obituaries of Bailey and Stewart Family of Henderson County, Tennessee.
