This collection contains copies of letters written by Alfred T. Hamilton to his father, 1858 and 1859. He was a doctor in Franklin County, and his letters discuss the medical conditions of this patients as well as living conditions in the South. Copies of 2 letters from James B. Childs to Mrs. Noble in 1961 regarding the location of the town.

Scope and Contents This .42 linear feet collection is divided into three series: Series I includes original, handwritten general correspondence sent to William Giles Harding primarily from Matthew Fontaine Maury, 1827-1872. Abstract The Stanley F. Horn Collection of Tennessee Manuscripts contains more than six hundred individual pieces. Although they range in date from 1782 to the 1870s, most are concentrated in the first four decades of the nineteenth century. This collection contains four handwritten legal trial transcripts, arranged in four file folders, signed by Andrew Jackson who was the Judge of the Superior Court. A typescript of each letter is included in the folders.

This collection contains the accounting records of a plantation in Charleston, Mississippi; the correspondence of two brothers, Thomas S. Jones [who was in charge of the plantation] and John R. Jones [who was practicing medicine in Marshall County, Tennessee]; and speech. Buleah Davis donated this collection in 1939.

The Anti-Slavery Pamphlet Collection contains 245 items dated 1787 to 1916 that focus on the abolishment of slavery and Reconstruction of the Southern States after the American Civil War. Represented are imprints from Europe and the United States. The European publications also discuss situations in Poland and its politics during the 1850s.

The William Turner Lawsuit Collection is a small collection comprised of original, handwritten legal documents from an 1848-1852 dispute over the sale of a fourteen-year old enslaved girl, Phebe. 17 folders contain original letters; the other 10 are transcriptions created in 2017.
