Landon Cabell Garland Papers
The Landon Cabell Garland Papers (1830-1958) includes correspondence, diaries, speeches, sermons, a report to the Vanderbilt University Board of Trust, and personal and biographical materials. These are personal papers of Chancellor Garland and are not to be confused with his university papers. This collection is a small snapshot of Chancellor Garland's personal life, with the family correspondence providing the main interest.
Gerald Henderson Collection
This collection contains one scrapbook of photographs detailing the construction of buildings for the Vanderbilt hospital and Medical School in 1936-1938.
Julia Hereford Papers
This collection is composed of one box with thirteen folders and one book within. Researchers will find materials from Herefords’ education, including her doctoral thesis, as well as materials from her tenure at Vanderbilt University. Furthermore, there is a large compilation of photographs of both her and her peers archived in the collection. Finally, there is correspondence to Hereford and condolences following her death.

James Hampton Kirkland Papers
George Mayfield Papers
The George Mayfield Papers, 1900-1966, contain correspondence, music, theatre, language, and science programs, newspaper clippings, a calendar, and personal writings that touch on the many associations and organizations in which Dr. Mayfield held membership or interest.
Robert A. McGaw Papers
The Robert A. McGaw Papers are comprised of four series; Vanderbilt University, Designs, Writings and WWII. The papers follow closely McGaw’s career and are important to anyone interested in the history of the university. Of special note is the Design Series where McGaw assisted in re-designing the symbols of the university in the 1970s.
John Thomas McGill Papers
This collection contains the papers of John Thomas McGill (1851-1946), longtime faculty member and Dean of the School of Pharmacy at Vanderbilt. He also served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Tennessee Academy of Science for 15 years.
Mctyeire-Baskervill Papers
The McTyeire-Baskervill Papers consist of the papers of Vanderbilt co-founder Bishop Holland Nimmons McTyeire, the papers of college administrator Jane McTyeire Baskervill, and the papers of English professor William Malone Baskervill.

Evelyn Polk Norton Collection
Contains newspaper clippings about a Vanderbilt co-ed basketball team, a commencement itinerary for the Vanderbilt class of 1916,a speech written to the Pan-Hellenic Council, a pamphlet from "Stunt Night" (a night of performances put on by the YWCA of Vanderbilt University, and a letter to Chancellor Kirkland discussing the theme of "Stunt Night".
Nursing School Centennial
This collection includes one flat box which holds the hardback centennial celebration history book, the paperback centennial event schedule, and two commemorative medallions.
Catherine Moore Pilley Collection
This collection contains a series of clippings and photographs about Catherine Pilley, a member of Gamma Phi Beta, dated 1932-1936.

This site contains collection guides, or finding aids, to the archival collections held by Vanderbilt University Special Collections and University Archives, the History of Medicine Collection, and the Scarritt Bennett Center. Finding aids describe the context, arrangement, and structure of archival materials, allowing users to identify and request materials relevant to their research.
Requesting Materials
Each finding aid contains a link to request materials from the collections. Collections can also be requested by emailing the repository directly through the library website. Each repository has its own location, hours, and contact information. Please consult the repository with questions about using the materials. Collections are non-circulating and must be used in the repository’s reading room. In many cases, the collections are stored off-site and require advance notice for retrieval.
