Collection Guides

Correspondence, memorabilia, photographs, scrapbooks, scientific prizes and awards, newspaper clippings, and other publications of Dr. Earl Sutherland, 1971 Nobel Laureate in Medicine or Physiology. Most of the material dates from after Dr. Sutherland won the Nobel Prize, and much of it was organized by family members.

File contains biographical articles and tributes, as well as a compiliation entitled "But I Digress" of some of Dr. Thomison's editorials that appeared in the Southern Medical Journal during his tenure as editor 1977-1992. Also contains published obuturary that appeared in Tennessean Wednesday, May 1, 2013.

File contains photographs, biographical article, and a report prepared by Ms. Titus and submitted to Vanderbilt Chancellor James H. Kirkland in 1933 regarding a ten year plan for the development of the School of Nursing.

Photocopy of biographical article published in Tennessee the Volunteer State vol IV 1923, and a copy of an address delivered to the graduating class of the medical department of the University of Tennessee in 1902.

File contains newspaper clippings including House Organ article about 40 years of service, several prints of artwork by Vantrease, The Childrens's Garden card designed by Vantrease, , and numerous photo prints and negatives of lines drawnings of medical center by Robert Vantrease.

File contains several newspaper articles relating the life of Dr. Walker and her 49 years of serving Nashville as a pediatrician. File also contains letters of reccomendation.

File contains published obiturary and photograph of Dr. Wells with Vanderbilt Chancellor Harvie Branscomb, and Board of Trust member James Stahlman.

Personal papers of Vanderbilt alum and epidemiologist Olin West, a primary figure in the development of the Tennessee State Department of Public Health. The collection contains manuscripts on public health and one photograph.

File contains letters written to Olin West during the years of 1922,1924, 1947, photographs (including two anatomy lab pictures from when he was as student at Vanderbilt in the late 1800s) , newspaper clippings, and published article and obituary from JAMA.

File contains Nashville Banner article on Dr. Whitacre's appointment to Head of OB/GYN at Nashville General Hospital in 1960, and Nashville Banner article on Dr. Whitacre's being honored by collegues at Hillwood Dinner in 1966.

File contains photographs of Dr. Witt and including World War I unit, articles and typescripts, (inluding one entitled "Medical References in the writings of Shakespeare)" Alumni Notes, obituaries, and a published tribute entitled An Expression of Appreciation.
