I’ll Take My Stand: The South and the Agrarian Tradition by Twelve Southerners - Original Manuscript
This small collection contains the original manuscript of I’ll Take My Stand: The South and the Agrarian Tradition that belonged to Donald Davidson, one of the authors. There are eleven chapters, each by a different Agrarian.
Thomas S. Jones/John R. Jones Family Papers
This collection contains the accounting records of a plantation in Charleston, Mississippi; the correspondence of two brothers, Thomas S. Jones [who was in charge of the plantation] and John R. Jones [who was practicing medicine in Marshall County, Tennessee]; and speech. Buleah Davis donated this collection in 1939.
James C. Kelly Collection
This collection contains bound publications containing articles by James Kelly about the South.
Vivian Marsh Collection
This collection contains four letters written to Vivian Marsh from Mabel Mobley in Johnston, South Carolina. Mrs. Mobley was born in slavery. In 1967, when these letters were written, Mabel lived on the Marsh Plantation.
The letters are not dated, but one of the envelopes has a postmark.
Nashville as Historical Laboratory Collection
This .42 linear feet collection contains 26 file folders arranged in alphabetical order.
Herman Clarence Nixon Papers
This collection includes correspondence, diaries, journals where articles were published, etc. Series I contains incoming correspondence that is arranged alphabetically, then by date in the folders. A few pieces of correspondence are written in French and Spanish. Series II contains publications.
Books received with the collection were removed and catalogued.
Frank Lawrence Owsley Papers
The papers of Frank Lawrence Owsley (1913-1959) consist of ten cubic feet of materials and are primarily concerned with the professional life and career of this historian, author, and teacher. The major series in the papers include the Correspondence, the Writings, Personal and Biographical Materials, Agrarians, Publication Material, Academic Career, Professional Activities, and Research Materials.
Hariett Chappel Owsley Collection
The Owsley Charts were compiled at Vanderbilt University circa 1939-45 through the combined efforts of Harriet Chappell Owsley, Blanche Henry Clark, and Chase Mooney, under the direction of Frank Lawrence Owsley, Professor of History. The charts themselves represent a composite of Schedules I (land ownership), H (slave ownership), and IV (products of agriculture) of the unpublished Federal Census for Tennessee, 1850 and 1860.

Southern Politics Collection
The Southern Politics Collection, given by Alexander Heard in February 1982, consists of drafts and research materials for Southern Politics in State and Nation by V.O. Key, Jr., and A Two-Party South?, by Alexander Heard, together with transcripts of interviews on Southern politics used in the preparation of both these works.

This .21 linear feet collection contains 63 letters, two postcards, and one V-Mail Christmas Card from John Thompson to several family members while serving in the United States Navy during World War II. The letters are arranged in file folders chronologically by year, then month.
