300th General Hospital Unit Collection
Photographs, scrapbooks, unpublished reports, awards, and reunion material relating to the 300th General Hospital Unit, Vanderbilt's Medical Unit in World War II that served in Italy and North Africa. The collection also includes personal items such as scrapbooks from a few members of the unit. In addition, a few items found in the collection, primarily souvenirs, have no direct relation to the unit, but have some connection to Vanderbilt.
Alice Huffman Bugel Collection
Collection of personal recollections of Alice Huffman Bugel about her service in the 8th Evacuation Hospital during World War II Collection includes personal artifacts and memorabilia including her nurse’s uniform and accoutrements worn during her time of service in North Africa and Italy, as well as photographs, and certificates.
Luther P. Christman papers
Personal papers of Luther P. Christman, nurse, sociologist, educator, and Dean of Vanderbilt Nursing School from 1967-1972. Materials include photographs, correspondence, and other papers.
Rosamond Gabrielson Papers
Personal papers of Rosamond Gabrielson, nurse and nursing director at Vanderbilt Medical Center from 1976-1987. Material includes: manuscripts, and speeches, biographical material, correspondence, reprints, articles, handbooks, pamphlets, proceedings, symposia, conferences, newspaper clippings, grant applications, committee work, photographs, and files pertaining to the American Nurse's Association.
Dorothy Johnson Papers
Papers and personal materials beloging to educator and nursing theroist Dorothy E. Johnson documenting her teaching, research, and writing activities. Ms. Johnson, a 1942 graduate of Vanderbilt Univisity School of Nursing spent the majority of her professional career at UCLA School of Nursing and is considered among the leading nursing theroists in the 20th century.
Joyce K. Laben Collection
Papers and materials beloging to Joyce K Laben documenting her career as a psychiatric nurse, research and teaching activities. Professor Laben served on the faculty of Vanderbilt University School of Nursing until her retirement in 1998.
