This collection contains the papers of Dr. Edgar Hill Duncan (1905-1980), longtime English professor at Vanderbilt.

The O. B. Emerson Collection, 1922-1990, consists of material that literary scholar O. B. Emerson, 1921-1990, collected about author William Faulkner, 1897-1962.
Xavier A. Fernández Collection
This collection contains research materials from Xavier A. Fernández on Tirso de Molina. He was the author of Las comedias de Tirso de Molina.
Doris Fleming Papers
Father James Harold Flye Papers
The Papers of James Harold Flye (1884-1985) date from 1904 to 1983, with the bulk of the collections dating from the 1950s to the 1970s. The collection includes Flye’s correspondence with over two hundred individuals (primarily letters received), journals kept in scattered years during the 1920s and 1930s and almost daily journals kept from 1957 to 1981, Flye’s own writings, and information regarding James Agee.
Jesse Hill Ford Papers
This collection contains a selection of short stories and materials related to the play "The Conversion of Buster Drumwright" by Jesse Hill Ford.
James Marshall Frank Papers
Freolac Club Collection
This collection contains correspondence, meeting announcements, newspaper clippings, biographical material, program schedules, reports, rosters of members, copies of delivered speeches, lecture notes for presentations, and miscellaneous material. Dates of the material range from 1968 to 2006.
Fugitive and Agrarian Collection
This collection contains 1.67 linear feet of materials on the Fugitive Poets and the Nashville Agrarians. Most of the materials have to do with the years in the 1920’s when the Fugitive poet group was formed and the resulting poems, manuscripts, and correspondence. In addition there are a few items, mostly articles, that concern the Agrarian group.
The Fugitive Reunion Collection
Ernest J. Gaines Collection
This small collection consists of one uncorrected proof copy of In My Father’s House by Ernest J. Gaines and a holograph manuscript fragment of 32 pages front and back of the same title.
Frantisek W. Galan Collection
The Frantisek W. Galan Collection contains a series of Galan’s undergraduate and graduate school syllabi, personal notes, graded academic materials, various newspaper clippings, excerpts from his research projects, as well as student projects and evaluations. The majority of the Frantisek W. Galan Collection pertains directly to Galan’s academic career at Princeton University from the years 1971 to 1974.
Caroline Gordon Papers
This .21 linear foot collection consists of three file folders. It includes one folder of outgoing correspondence from 1942, 1972, and 1973. In addition, the collection contains two of Gordon’s manuscripts: “Old Mrs. Llewellyn” and “The Olive Garden,” both of which are not dated.

Rufus Wilmot Griswold Collection
Handwritten Book of Poetry
This collection contains a bound volume of poems, sonnets, and songs collected from the writings of many famous poetic figures, and handwritten onto the pages of this journal. Written in two separate hands, this journal appears to have been exchanged among two friends who alternately scribed favorite poems.
George Washington Harris Papers
The George W. Harris papers contains correspondence, a bound volume of stories, including letters to editor and Sut Lovingood Yarns. Also included is the dissertation “The Life and Works of George Washington Harris” – by Donald Day, March 1942 and a typescript of the manuscript “High Times and Hard Times. This site contains collection guides, or finding aids, to the archival collections held by Vanderbilt University Special Collections and University Archives, the History of Medicine Collection, and the Scarritt Bennett Center. Finding aids describe the context, arrangement, and structure of archival materials, allowing users to identify and request materials relevant to their research.
Requesting Materials
Each finding aid contains a link to request materials from the collections. Collections can also be requested by emailing the repository directly through the library website. Each repository has its own location, hours, and contact information. Please consult the repository with questions about using the materials. Collections are non-circulating and must be used in the repository’s reading room. In many cases, the collections are stored off-site and require advance notice for retrieval.
