Lamar Alexander Papers
This collection contains the papers of former Governor of Tennessee, Secretary of Education, and U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander. Currently, only the material predating Alexander's tenure as Senator (pre-2002) is processed for research use. Please contact Special Collections with access inquiries related to Senate materials.

Black Foxe Military Institute Collection
This collection is composed of one 1/2 Hollinger box containing six folders. Within the collection is Black-Foxe's yearbook, The Adjutant, from 1936 and 1937, the school's newspaper, Kaydet, volumes 15, 16, and 18, and a brochure detailing the school. Additionally, there are some promotional items relating to Vanderbilt University.

The papers of O.C. Carmichael, 3rd Chancellor of Vanderbilt, are comprised of correspondence, his writings including addresses, articles, book manuscripts and institutional reports, and other materials relating to Oliver Carmichael’s long and distinguished career in teaching, university administration, and educational consulting.
John E. Chapman Biographical File
Biographical file includes photographs, articles, speeches, talks re: American presidents and other world leaders, pamphlets for special lectures, curriculum vitae, newspaper clippings, invitations, and many formal and informal photographs of Dr. Chapman.
Brainard Bartwell Cheney and Frances Neel Cheney Papers
This collection contains the papers of Brainard Bartwell Cheney and Frances Neel Cheney. Major topics of interest include multiple versions of Brainard Cheney’s novels, the Pine Barrens and Rivers of Southeastern Georgia, materials relating to the Cheney’s friendships with many of the Fugitive/Agrarian writers, Brainard Cheney’s interest in Catholicism, Tennessee Politics in the late 1940’s and 1950’s, race relations and civil rights, Library Science and reference services.
Amos Christie Papers
Personal papers of Amos Christie, pediatrician, child health advocate, professor, and administrator at Vanderbilt University Medical School. Dr. Christie is best known for his research in histoplasmosis, known as the "Vanderbilt disease." This site contains collection guides, or finding aids, to the archival collections held by Vanderbilt University Special Collections and University Archives, the History of Medicine Collection, and the Scarritt Bennett Center. Finding aids describe the context, arrangement, and structure of archival materials, allowing users to identify and request materials relevant to their research.
Requesting Materials
Each finding aid contains a link to request materials from the collections. Collections can also be requested by emailing the repository directly through the library website. Each repository has its own location, hours, and contact information. Please consult the repository with questions about using the materials. Collections are non-circulating and must be used in the repository’s reading room. In many cases, the collections are stored off-site and require advance notice for retrieval.
