Historical or Biographical Note

John W. Simpson attended the University of Pennsylvania during the 1830s. His grandson, Dr. John W. Simpson, graduated from Vanderbilt University Medical School in 1932 and conducted a residency here from 1933-1937 with a specialty in obstetrics and gynecology. The younger Dr. Simpson donated his grandfather's college items to the Eskind Library in 1992.
