Historical or Biographical Note

Richard M. Scott joined the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1967 as a business manager in the Deaprtment of Surgery, and three years later, he became the coordinator of student records and services in the Medical School's Office of Education. Scott became director of student sevices in 1972 and assistant dean in 1983. Illnesses forced his retirement in 1988 at the age of 50. He passed away from complications of Alzheimer's disease in 1993.
