Historical or Biographical Note
Dr. Robert Clendening Jr.(1912-1994) was a graduate of Branham Hughes Military Academy, Vanderbilt University, and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. During World War II, he was selected to serve with General Chenault's Flying Tigers, 14th Air Force USAAF. Following World War II, Patterson established an OB/GYN practice. He was a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In addition, Patterson was a founder and member of the Nashville OB/GYN Society and served as president and a member of both the Tennessee Medical Association and the Nashville Academy of Medicine. Dr. Patterson and his wife have co-authored four books related to obstetrics/gynecology.
