Historical or Biographical Note
Robert E.L. Nesbitt graduated from Vanderbilt School of Medicine in 1947. Nesbitt was named one of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of 1957 by the U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce for his research in the cause and prevention of infant death in association with the birth process. He has served as professor and chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Albany Medical College of Union University. Nesbitt was also one of the three men on the U.S. National Committee of the Pan American Cancer Cytology Society.
