Historical or Biographical Note

James McKissick Moore was a member of the first graduating class of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (1875). He also graduated from Emory and Henry College in Virginia in 1873. Upon receiving his medical degree, Moore took up residence in Spring Hill, Tennessee, where he practiced privately for a few years before devoting his career to farming.
