Historical or Biographical Note

Georgeanna 'Anna' White Lipe worked at Vanderbilt Medical School, Department of Medical Illustration where she studied medical illustration under artist Susan Wilkes. She earned her BA in art and medical science in 1930. She joined her husband, J.T. Lipe, in La Jolla, California, where he practiced general medicine and anesthesiology from 1936 until his retirement in 1958. She developed an interest in watercolor and became well known for her work in Southern California. She died March 25, 2012 at the age of 102.
