Historical or Biographical Note
Litterer eventually became a Professor of Bacteriology at Vanderbilt and an Assistant Professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at Vanderbilt (1928 to 1935). He also served as State Bacteriologist and Director of the Division of Laboratories of the Department of Public Health of Tennessee for many years. In addition, Litterer conducted special government research in lethal gas during World War I. He passed away in 1945.
