Historical or Biographical Note
Joseph Henry Litterer was born in 1893 in Nashville, Tennessee. He graduated from both Vanderbilt University and the Vanderbilt University Medical School (1917). Litterer served as captain with the United States Medical Corps in France during World War I and resumed his medical practice in Nashville upon his return. He was a specialist in bacteriology and pathology. Litterer passed away in 1934.
