Historical or Biographical Note

Dr. J. Howard King attended George Peabody College and was a graduate of the University of Nashville School of Medicine in 1905. He served his internship at the Nashville General Hospital and received specialty training at the New York Skin and Cancer Hospital. King served as Professor of Dermatology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine from 1927-1928 and 1941-1953. He also served on the Vanderbilt clinical faculty from 1927-1941 and 1953-1957 and was awarded the title of Clinical Professor of Dermatology Emeritus. Upon retirement from teaching, King worked as a partner in the King, Buchanan, and Hamilton dermatology clinic in Nashville.
