Historical or Biographical Note
James Moore King, M.D., was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, in 1867. He attended the University of Nashville, from which he graduated in 1892. He continued his studies at the university and received his M.D. in 1896.
After working as a farmer and as a chemist for the State Board of Health, King studied abroad for a couple of years then returned to the United States to serve as a member of the Board of Education of Nashville. In 1912 he became associated with the Vanderbilt medical faculty and specialized in dermatology. King served as the head of the Department of Clinical Dermatology until his death in 1926.
