Historical or Biographical Note
Albert S. Kaplan was a member of the Vanderbilt faculty from 1972 to 1989. He was a graduate of Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science and Penn State University. He completed his doctorate in microbiology and biochemistry in 1952 at Yale University. Kaplan was a former Chair of the Department of Microbiology at Vanderbilt and served as a research professor in his field until his death. His main area of research was virology.
