Historical or Biographical Note
Dr. James W. Jobling studied medicine at Johns Hopkins University and in Germany. He was appointed the head of the Department of Pathology at Vanderbilt Medical School in 1914. Prior to Vanderbilt, Jobling was connected for several years to the Rockefeller Institute, where he worked with Dr. Simon Flexner to perfect the 'anti-meningitis serum.' Jobling also spent time at the Morris Institute in Chicago as well as working with the Pathological Department of Columbia University.
