Historical or Biographical Note
John Kennerly Farris served the Confederacy as a doctor in Company I, 41st Tennessee Volunteer Infantry during the American Civil War. He practiced medicine in Tennessee until his retirement in 1901. Two of his sons, John Kennerly Farris, Jr., and William Rice Farris, attended the University of Nashville Medical School.
