Historical or Biographical Note
Dr. Jere L. Crook practiced medicine and surgery in Jackson, Tennessee, with his father, Dr. Joseph A. Crook, with whom he built and operated the Crook Sanitarium. He graduated from Union University with his M.A. in 1892 and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine with his M.D. in 1894. The degree of LL.D. was conferred upon Dr. Crook by Union University in 1943. Dr. Crook was one of the founders of the Southern Medical Association. He has also authored a number of published scientific papers, many which have appeared in the Southern Medical Journal.
